New Made in Cornwall Flagship Store

The Made in Cornwall Scheme is delighted to announce that The Cornish Store, based in Falmouth town centre, will be our New Made in Cornwall Flagship Store! As official members in their own right with their own products, they are also our first official Made in Cornwall retailer, and we couldn’t have asked for a better store to work with.

With a long and well-established history in retail, Anne and Keven Ayres have been supporting Cornish makers since they opened The Cornish Store in 2004. After being inspired by a trip to Britany where shops were only selling local produce and craft, they wanted to do the same for all the amazing Cornish artisans we have in our beautiful county.

This Bank Holiday weekend, May 4th to 6th, they are celebrating their 20th Anniversary, and we can’t wait to celebrate with them as the launch of our first ever Flagship Store!

Anne & Keven have always been passionate about supporting small, independent, and local Cornish makers, creators, and producers. Back in 2004, manufacturers of specifically Cornish gifts were thin on the ground, so it was very hard to get the shop full of stock but their determination to shine the spotlight on the amazing talent in Cornwall never wavered and today they run an extremely successful and busy store.

When talking with Anne you can sense the love she feels for Cornwall, how passionate she is about its artisans and the desire to support them. “We want to tell the world that Cornwall is more than about pasties and clotted cream” says Anne with a smile, “Being part of the Made in Cornwall Scheme means that we are recognised as authentic and Ambassadors for Cornwall.” And we couldn’t agree more.

If you get the chance to visit this weekend, they would love to see you and you’ll find the Made in Cornwall section on the right-hand side as you enter the shop. Look for the official Made in Cornwall logos on the products and the small bio on each creator and producer so that you get to know who’s behind each business.

In partnership with Shop Cornish, Made in Cornwall is a scheme that provides ‘Approved Origin’ through Cornwall Council Trading Standards accreditation of products, assuring they are truly made in Cornwall with a badge to prove it. This ensures that authentic makers are recognised and provides the consumer with the reassurance that they are purchasing genuine Cornish products.

All members are audited to ensure they are working with local materials, services, and supply chains to protect Cornish provenance and the local circular economy. It helps support local producers, creatives, and makers in Cornwall so that businesses can unite in the face of globalism and imitation. We encourage more local businesses and public to work together, looking after our communities and buying locally.
