Cornwall Council has announced the appointment of Andy Keeling as its Interim Deputy Chief Executive.
Mr Keeling, a highly experienced local government leader, will take up the role from Monday while the Council's Chief Executive is on a leave of absence.
He brings extensive leadership experience to the position, having previously served as Head of Paid Service at Leicester City Council and Chief Executive of the Falkland Islands Government.
Cornwall Council said his appointment will help provide continuity and leadership during the interim period.
Council Leader Cllr Leigh Frost welcomed the appointment and highlighted Mr Keeling's experience in senior local government roles.
He said: "Andy brings a wealth of experience from senior positions in local government and will provide valuable leadership at an important time for the Council.
“We are grateful to him for stepping into the role at such short notice."
Mr Keeling is due to begin his duties on Monday as the authority continues its work across Cornwall.
