Weeks after 70 ewes and lambs were stolen from land in Cornwall, a fundraiser has been launched to help support the owners of the livestock.

In July, Devon and Cornwall Police issued an appeal for witnesses following the theft, which is believed to have happened between 3pm and 9.50pm on Saturday, July 19.

The stolen animals were mostly Texel‑cross Roussin sheep, along with a small number of Poll Dorsets and North Country Mules.

A GoFundMe page has now been set up by a friend of the couple who owned the sheep, aiming to raise £5,500.

Lucy, who created the fundraiser, wrote: “I’m starting this fundraiser for my friends Michael and Annie, who are without a doubt two of the hardest‑working people I know.

“Recently, they suffered a devastating blow. In broad daylight, thieves broke into a locked field near Indian Queens and stole 70 ewes and lambs – representing approximately £20,000 worth of livestock.

“This isn’t just a loss of property; it is their entire livelihood. Because they have little stock left, their income for this summer has effectively vanished.

“Beyond the financial ruin, they are completely heart‑broken by the loss of the animals they cared for every day.”

Lucy is asking for donations to help support Michael and Annie through the crisis. Every pound raised will go towards replenishing their stock, so they have animals for next year, as well as covering essential living and farm expenses after losing their summer income.

She added: “If you are able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world to them as they try to rebuild. “If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this campaign and help spread the word.”
