As the sun set over Land’s End on Tuesday evening, the skies lit up with a brand new summer spectacle – Cornwall’s first long‑running drone show.
The attraction welcomed guests for an exclusive preview of the new display, which will run throughout summer 2026 as part of a major investment in Land’s End’s evening events programme.
The development marks a shift from the site’s long‑established Magic in the Skies firework nights, adding a modern, choreographed drone performance inspired by Cornwall’s coast, landscape and heritage.
The show has been created in partnership with Afterglow, a Cornish drone technology start‑up. Tom Wadsworth from the company said working with Land’s End was “a huge excitement”, adding: “Being able to showcase the future of live evening outdoor entertainment at such an iconic landmark is a privilege.”
Land’s End says the partnership reflects its commitment to supporting local creative and technical talent. For more than two decades, its summer firework nights have attracted tens of thousands of visitors and generated significant economic benefit for the area.
General Manager Trevor Broome said the new show was about “protecting the long‑term future of one of Cornwall’s most loved summer events” while raising expectations for large‑scale visitor experiences in the South West.

The drone display will complement rather than replace the traditional fireworks, forming a two‑part evening event. The multi‑year agreement with Afterglow will allow for future creative development while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.
The drone‑enhanced Magic in the Skies events will launch in summer 2026, with further details to be announced later this year. Visitors can enjoy shopping, food stalls, live music and family entertainment from 10am until late, before the landmark lights up after dusk.
In addition to the drone show, Land’s End will host its Magic in the Skies firework displays every Tuesday and Thursday from July 23 to August 27, 2026.
