St Austell Community Hospital’s Minor Injury Unit (MIU) has been given a major upgrade.
The unit now has a larger waiting area, 2 bays that can hold 4 beds at a time, and 3 new treatment rooms. It is also celebrating 3 new murals. These murals were made possible thanks to the long‑standing support of the St Austell Community Hospital League of Friends.
This June (Friday 12th – Sunday 14th), the world-famous, award-winning Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival will return to the Cornish port with three days of maritime music for the 22nd year running. More than 80 groups from across the UK and overseas will descend on the town for a jam-packed weekend of jovial song, harbourside harmonies, salty shanties and deck stomping choruses.
Families can meet Santa, ride husky sleds and return to Cornwall the same evening on new festive charter. For the first time ever, a same-day Lapland experience will depart from Newquay, taking passengers straight to Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland - the official home of Santa Claus - on 21 December 2026.
As the Eden Project celebrates 25 years this week (17 March), one of the educational charity’s earliest and most memorable exhibits – the Plant Takeaway, affectionately known as “The Dead Cat” – is set to feature in an upcoming episode of BBC One’s hit TV show The Repair Shop on the Road. The episode will be broadcast on BBC One at 15:45 on Friday 20 March 2026.
