About Us
Cormac Environment Service provides a comprehensive, end-to-end Park and Open Spaces management service across Cornwall. Our professional and operational teams deliver expert grounds maintenance, quality parks enhancement projects, play facility installation, improvement and repair works, as well as an ongoing stewardship of a wide variety of species across diverse landscapes from parks, formal gardens, open spaces, sports pitches, cemeteries, waterways, and roadside landscapes. Sustainability and the Environment at the heart of all we do and wherever practical adapting maintenance to favour habitats and biodiversity, and use of battery equipment, biofuels and ethanol free fossil fuels in modern equipment and machinery.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a motivated and experienced Greenspace Maintenance Chargehand to support the Environment Working Foreperson. This hands‑on role involves leading teams, carrying out high‑quality horticultural and grounds maintenance tasks, and ensuring safe and efficient operations across our sites.
What You’ll Do
• Lead small teams across a variety of public spaces and parks
• Carry out routine and specialist grounds maintenance tasks
• Operate grounds maintenance machinery and tools
• Ensure safe working practices and site standards
• Support the development and mentoring of team members
• Assist with inspections, planning, and delivery of maintenance schedules
• Contribute to biodiversity and habitat‑enhancement projects

About you
We are looking for you to bring:
- Relevant horticultural or land‑based qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3)
- Experience operating grounds maintenance machinery (e.g. mowers, strimmers, ride‑on equipment)
- ROLO or equivalent H&S training
- PA1/PA6 pesticide qualifications (desirable)
- This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence, Class C1E/LGV is desirable
