Camborne Brass Band has been left “blown away” by an extraordinary wave of community support, after raising £10,000 in less than a day to help the band recover from a serious break‑in at its bandroom on Sunday.
The group shared a post on its Facebook page on Monday saying they were “deeply saddened” to reveal that the building had been “forcibly entered”, with windows smashed to gain access and significant damage caused to the building and items inside.
“Our band is a proud part of the local community, and our bandroom is at the heart of what we do,” a spokesperson said.
“It provides a place for people of all ages to come together through music, while our beginners’ group helps introduce young people to brass music and the wider banding community.”
Camborne Brass launched a Crowdfunder to help repair the damage and improve security at the bandroom. In an emotional message shared online, the band said it “honestly cannot believe the incredible support” received since the fundraiser went live.

The band reached its original £10,000 target in under 24 hours, thanks to donations from supporters, fellow bands, friends, families and the wider community.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every single person who has donated, shared our campaign, and helped spread the word,” the band wrote. “The incredible response from our community, friends, family, fellow bands and supporters has completely blown us away.”
Although the fundraiser has now surpassed the £10,000-mark, Camborne Brass Band is still encouraging people to donate.
“Any additional funds raised will continue to help us repair and improve our bandroom, strengthen security and ensure we can keep providing a safe home for our band and the wider community.”
Camborne Brass Band will also be hosting a charity concert on Sunday, October 4, at The Star Inn, Vogue, St Day. Tickets cost £5 per person, with an afternoon of live music and community spirit promised.
