About the role

We are seeking a Response Supervisor to oversee the delivery of repairs and maintenance services for our building maintenance contracts (re-active and planned works), ensuring staff safety, compliance with standards, and efficient, high-quality service for customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 10 operatives/apprentices, providing direction, training, and support.
  • Ensure all works comply with health, safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including resource planning, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
  • Support pricing, costing, and invoicing processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, vehicle inspections, site checks, and compliance audits.
  • Drive productivity through effective use of technology, systems, and reporting tools.
  • Liaise with clients and internal teams to deliver responsive, cost-effective services.
  • Support business development by maintaining strong client relationships and identifying improvements.

Objectives

  • Support the rollout of the Field Service Management platform.
  • Strengthen processes to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Contribute to business growth, customer retention, and profitability.

About you

We are looking for you to bring:

Essential:

  • Trade-related qualification and/or membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Supervisory experience in reactive maintenance/repairs within property services.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors, stakeholders, and clients effectively.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, contracts, health & safety, risk management, and minor works.
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and develop staff across multiple sites.
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Regular travel is required; you must have a Full UK driving licence and have access to a suitable vehicle.
  • The role is safety-critical; overtime may be required where necessary.

Desirable:

  • IOSH Managing Safely certification (or willingness to achieve).
  • Experience using Field Service Management technology or similar systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, improve processes, and implement positive change.
  • Experience in financial management and resource planning.
  • Previous experience in building long-term client relationships and enhancing business reputation.
