Senior Steward / Steward Highways
We are currently looking for a Highway Stewards / Senior Highway Steward to assist and manage the delivery of routine operational highways services within Cornwall. We are looking for candidates with an understanding or a sound practical background within highways and/or environmental issues.
About the role
Successful applicants will be the first point of contact for relevant stakeholders (members of the public, town and parish councils etc.) when contacting Cornwall Council and / or Cormac with regard to highways related issues.
To resolve routine problems identifying necessary work, producing works packages, programming and overseeing works to ensure compliance with all working standards, directives and legislation, whilst driving continuous improvement, performance management and efficiency.

About you
We are looking for you to bring:
- HNC Civil Engineering, NVQ Level 3, ILM Level 3 Award in First Line Management or an Engineering Technician qualification in an engineering or environment discipline or equivalent qualification / suitable experience
- Ability to work out of hours standby duties to cover highway emergencies as a part of a schedule rota
- Valid driving licence to enable use of allocated company van
- Health and Safety certificate and qualification or ability to work towards
Our offer to you
Salary: £26,790 to £36,647 Highway Steward (Cor9)
£31,698 to £41,976 Senior Highway Steward (Cor10)
Role and appointment within grades to be determined through the recruitment process
Working Hours: 37 hours per week (8.00am - 4.15pm Monday to Friday)
Contract Type: Permanent
Base: Cornwall
Closing Date: Midnight Sunday 30th November 2025
