Take part in a free, family-friendly day of nature-based fun at Bioblitz Penryn on Bank Holiday Monday, 4 May, from 10:00-16:00 in the Italian Gardens on Penryn Campus.
The aim is to help the University of Exeter’s conservation students record as much wildlife as possible. Last year we recorded 439 species from plants and birds to reptiles and mammals.
You can join in moth trapping, ponding dipping, nature walks and more. And there’ll be a variety of stalls from organisations like the Screech Owl Sanctuary, Budding Nature, The Rockpool Project and Bumble Bee Conservation Trust.
A BioBlitz is an intense period of biological surveying that attempts to record all the living species within a specific area. The purpose is to document local biodiversity, engage communities with nature, provide data for conservation, and identify rare species. Events have been held all around the world for the past 30 years.
