Boardmasters has opened applications for Boardmasters Breaking, a new competition offering emerging artists from the South West the chance to perform on the festival's Main Stage this August!
Taking place across 5th-9th August 2026 at Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach in Newquay, Boardmasters offers a unique mix of music and surf set against the dramatic Cornish coastline with iconic clifftop views, multiple arenas and world-class surf competitions plus a full programme of wellness, creative and community.
Open to vocalists, bands, DJs and artists of any genre or age, the initiative is designed to spotlight regional talent and provide a genuine platform at one of Cornwall's most significant cultural events. Entrants must be from, or based in, the South West.
The winner will receive an opening slot on the Main Stage on Sunday 9th August, full weekend festival access with a +1 per performer, access to the Artist Area on Sunday, professionally shot content from their performance, a dedicated feature on CLUNK Magazine's Instagram, and a dedicated announcement across Boardmasters' social channels.
All applications will be reviewed and shortlisted by the Boardmasters team, with the final winner selected by BBC Introducing and revealed on Monday 25th May.
This year the festival welcomes performances from Lily Allen, Fatboy Slim, Kasabian, The Kooks, Loyle Carner, Rudimental, REN, Tash Sultana, Joy Crookes, Jacob Alon, Lambrini Girls and more, alongside WSL surf competitions, wellness programming and a full creative and community offering.
