UK festival exclusive Chevy Metal featuring Shane Hawkins, Skunk Anansie’s first Cornish headline performance, headline sets from Kaiser Chiefs and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, plus a high-energy DJ set from Simon Pegg!
With Glastonbury taking a fallow year in 2026, a beautifully boutique contender is stepping into the spotlight. And even better than a farm in the middle of Somerset, this enchanting festival takes place in the stunning 400-acre grounds of Cornwall’s stately Scorrier Estate. With personality and purpose, offering a refreshing alternative to larger, more commercial events while retaining the scale and spectacle audiences expect, The Great Estate Festival (taking place from 29th – 31st May 2026) is making a compelling case as the UK’s most exciting super family friendly festival alternative.
Bursting with eccentric charm, this three-day celebration of music, art, theatre, and wonder has been described as Cornwall’s most unorthodox garden party. Festivalgoers can expect a weekend of spectacular performances, curious happenings, and truly unforgettable adventures. Already an acclaimed favourite and an utterly unique fixture on the Cornish cultural calendar, The Great Estate blends world-class music, wild creativity, and immersive family-friendly experiences into what organisers proudly call ‘the most rambunctious garden fête.’
Highlights at this year’s much-anticipated event include a range of rare and exclusive performances such as Skunk Anansie gigging in Cornwall for the very first time (fronted by the iconic Skin) headlining Sunday, a crowd-pleasing, high energy DJ set from none other than actor and comedian, Simon Pegg and a UK festival exclusive from Chevy Metal, featuring Shane Hawkins. This is one of their only UK appearances since the Taylor Hawkins’ tribute show. All of this sits alongside incredible headline sets from Kaiser Chiefs and celebrated pop-disco queen, Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Crucially, The Great Estate delivers something many major festivals can’t, a genuinely all-ages experience because included in the ticket price is an enormous programme of free activities. These include The Viking Encampment, Dark Cornwall folklore experiences and the ever-popular Great British Beard Off (new for 2026, this hilarious competition will seek the biggest, fanciest and most extreme beards).
The Secret Gin Garden grants hidden cocktails and late-night revelry, the magical Piskie Trail and immersive woodland adventures offer magic for families. Victorian Sports Day will entail circus skills and storytelling and there will be a range of other cool and creative workshops alongside Hip Hop Karaoke, kids’ raves, a magical vintage fairground and much, much more. When the headline sets wrap, the party doesn’t stop, it simply moves into the arena for the festival’s legendary Supersized Silent Disco.
Fans can also get closer than ever to the artists through intimate Talks at Teatime sessions including with the iconic frontwoman of Skunk Anansie, Skin and a special drum clinic and Q&A with Shane Hawkins and Miles Elze, provoking thoughtful discussion, audience questions, and an honest look at the work behind the music. Also new this year, Clunk Magazine will take over the woods, curating a handpicked lineup of cutting-edge bands and emerging artists, transforming the space into a haven for musical discovery and indie energy.
For the more health-conscious festivalgoers, the Sanctuary Wellness Workshop Tent has a schedule of sessions throughout ranging from yoga, mindful manifestations, Tai Chi Qi Gong to fermentation classes.
So much more than just a music festival, The Great Estate is a celebration of Cornwall’s creativity, community and landscape. Scorrier House is located on one of the area’s most notable estates. This elegant stately home is set amidst 400 acres of private parkland and historical gardens in the heart of the Cornish countryside. Alongside national and international headliners, the festival champions local talent and emerging artists, independent traders and Cornish businesses and a thriving regional creative scene and secondary economy.
Ben Hall from The Great Estate Festival said, “Our vision has always been to create something completely different and stand out for all ages and interests. With this year's diverse lineup and immersive activities, we’re raising the bar again for what a family festival can be. In a year without Glastonbury, we’re proud to offer a completely different, spellbinding festival that’s imaginative, welcoming, and rooted in Cornwall – with unforgettable experiences. And in true Great Estate style, the unexpected is set to be everywhere, with secret performances, roaming characters and surreal spectacles hidden across the whole estate.”
Guests can upgrade their stay with boutique glamping, The Octopus Garden and use of Scorrier House’s private pool and sauna experiences.
With attendance exceeding 10,000 in previous years and tickets already selling faster than ever, The Great Estate is rapidly becoming the go-to destination for 2026. Tickets are on sale now and expected to rise to the next tier soon. Visit www.greatestatefestival.co.uk for more information.
