Tributes to Dolly Parton are being paid far and wide this evening following the announcement of her death aged 80.

Her death was confirmed on Instagram by her nephew Bryan Seaver, speaking on behalf of the Parton and Owens family. In the video, Mr Seaver said Dolly — real name Rebecca Parton Dean — passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Sadness lives with us, not with Dolly,” he said. “Dolly lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus.”

Famed for hits including 9 to 5, Jolene and Islands in the Stream, Dolly was a globally celebrated singer‑songwriter, actress, philanthropist and businesswoman.

Tributes have been pouring in from across the world. Here in Cornwall, people have also been sharing their memories and messages.

“Ohhh Dolly back with Carl again. Don’t rest in peace - dance and sing every day,” one person wrote. Another added: “Aww Dolly, you was a legend.”
