Cornwall’s Rewind Radio announces today that Breakfast Presenter Josh Curnow will be leaving The Big Cornish Breakfast on 24 April 2026, after a successful two years as co-host - alongside Laura Mac.
Josh first came to wider public attention 10 years ago when he appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, pursuing a lifelong ambition to build a career in music. Having been involved in the music industry since his college days, Josh has remained committed to that dream, establishing himself as a respected singer-songwriter and performer.
He joined The Big Cornish Breakfast two years ago and has since become a familiar and popular voice with listeners across Cornwall, helping to shape the programme into a warm, entertaining and engaging part of the station’s weekday output.
Josh’s departure comes at an exciting new point in his music career. Last week, he released his new single on own record label, Camp Kernow, and has now been approached to grow the label further while also taking on a consultancy role supporting up-and-coming musicians.
Richard Woods, Managing Director of Cornwall’s Rewind Radio, said “First of all thank you to Josh for the 2 years he has given the station. I am remarkably proud of Josh for pursuing his passion and building a career in something which means so much to him. It is a very exciting time for Josh and he goes with all our support. Keep a listen out as Josh will be popping in to promote his artists and also will be around for the Christmas Day Special. Josh has confirmed he won't be appearing as a presenter on another station.
Josh Curnow explained “This is a very bittersweet moment for me. I’m incredibly proud of my time at Cornwall’s Rewind Radio, deeply grateful for the opportunity, and it’s very emotional to be stepping away. The last two years have meant more than I can properly put into words. Being part of The Big Cornish Breakfast each morning, alongside such a passionate team at Rewind, has been a real privilege.
"Together, we’ve shared excitement in the everyday and found something special in moments you don’t always expect. Whether it was laughter, chaos, or those more honest conversations, the connection with our listeners is something I never took for granted. Hearing that we were helping people through tough times, or simply keeping them company, is what made the early mornings worth it. Just being there for people; that’s something Cornwall’s Rewind Radio does so well.
"The show will continue, and it’s in very safe hands with Laura Mac. She will carry on flying the breakfast flag, and she has my full support, as I know she’ll have yours.
"If I’m remembered for anything, I hope it’s for the fun we shared, the honesty and that sense of Cornish pride. If we brought a bit of light into someone’s morning before the sun rose, then we’ve done something that’s meant more than just radio.
"Now it’s time for me to focus fully on my music and on building Camp Curnow Records; not just for myself, but to try and help support and guide other artists coming through.
"Rewind will always be part of my story, and I don’t think this is goodbye, just the start of something new.
"I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Richard Woods and his family for the opportunity, to the incredible team at Cornwall’s Rewind Radio who I’ll sorely miss, and to you - our gorgeous listeners.
"Until next time, it’s been a pleasure, my dears… cheers for your ears.”
Reflecting on the news, Richard Woods commented "Losing a team member in any business is hard especially one so popular with the team, as a station we are very public and this may cause some concern, but Laura Mac did an amazing job prior to Josh joining and she will continue to ace the Big Cornish Breakfast. She has our full support and I am confident our listeners will continue to tune in; and the show will continue to grow with her at the helm. Listeners can join Laura every weekday between 6am and 10am for the usual laughter, cash prizes and up to date local travel, weather and tide times; broadcasted from our studios in Cornwall, keeping true local radio alive.
"While Josh will be stepping away from his regular presenting role, he will remain part of the wider Rewind Radio family, returning to the station to promote artists from Camp Kernow and to return as a guest presenter on special shows, including the station’s Christmas Day Special.
"Everyone at Cornwall’s Rewind Radio thanks Josh for his dedication, energy and contribution over the past two years, and we wish him every success in the next chapter of his career."
