Love and Support in the Air at Gunners Kids CIC Valentine’s Workshop

Love was in the air on Sunday as Gunners Kids CIC, a Cornish non-profit dedicated to supporting families with children when a parent or caregiver has a terminal illness, hosted a heart-warming Valentine’s-themed workshop at Newquay Family Hub.

This fully funded workshop marked the first of many initiatives designed to help families create lasting memories together. Families took part in a variety of creative activities, bringing joy and connection during what can be a challenging time.

Gunners Kids CIC has an exciting calendar of upcoming events, including an equine and forest school-based activity day at the Hugs Foundation in Bodmin on February 18th and an informative session paired with a karate workshop in St Blazey on March 23rd. In addition to workshops and events, the organisation provides tailored support boxes to children, offering resources to help them navigate anticipatory grief when facing the illness of a loved one.

Co-founder and director Tamsin expressed her joy at the success of the Valentine’s event, saying: “It was a lovely morning, and it was great to see both the children and adults enjoying the activities. There was a lot of creativity on display, and some truly wonderful pieces were created.”

Gunners Kids CIC is dedicated to supporting families in Cornwall during difficult times, providing them with the tools and guidance they need to make the most of their time together. The organisation’s mission is to offer workshops, activities, information, and peer support in a safe, welcoming environment, ensuring families can build meaningful and lasting memories.
