At Plantforce, giving back to the community goes far beyond business—it’s something the company genuinely values. Staff members have been proudly rolling up their sleeves to volunteer at four of Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) charity shops, including one in Plymouth.
These volunteer days offer the Plantforce team a chance to step away from their regular duties and lend a hand where it matters most—sorting donations, arranging displays, and welcoming customers. Whether tagging clothes, restocking shelves, or chatting with visitors, the team threw themselves into the work with a shared purpose: supporting the incredible efforts of CHSW for children and families across the South West.
“Spending time in the Plymouth shop was a rewarding reminder of how the smallest actions can have a huge impact when it supports a cause like CHSW. The team spirit in the shop was brilliant, they kept us busy, and it was inspiring to see just how committed the volunteers were,” said Kate Bennalick from the Hire Desk.
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) provides vital care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families, offering comfort and compassion during some of life’s toughest moments. Unlike the clinical atmosphere of a hospital, CHSW’s three hospices—including Little Harbour in St Austell—deliver respite, palliative, and end-of-life care in spaces where children can be children and families can find joy and relief.
Since the partnership with CHSW was announced, Plantforce’s team has embraced the cause with enthusiasm and purpose. Their fundraising journey began with a Cream Tea Morning that united all depots in a relaxed setting to raise money and awareness. With scones, jam, and cheerful conversation, it marked a heartfelt start to a meaningful relationship.
From fundraising to volunteering, the team has found inspiration in seeing the tangible impact CHSW makes. Every pound raised and every hour volunteered contributes directly to helping families in unimaginably challenging circumstances find hope and support. Plantforce is immensely proud of the work accomplished so far—and sees this as just the beginning. The company remains committed to continuing its partnership with CHSW, raising awareness, offering support, and making life a little easier for those who need it most.
