Pirate FM moves to Hits Radio

In a significant shift, Pirate FM is set to transition to Hits Radio Cornwall starting this spring.

Pirate FM’s official announcement released today stated “Pirate FM will be changing this Spring as we get set to transform into Hits Radio Cornwall on DAB.

You will continue to hear Neil and Saffy at Breakfast as they become part of the new station, with a line-up of shows from presenters including Fleur East, Sam Thompson, Gemma Atkinson and Sarah-Jane Crawford.”

As Pirate FM undergoes transformation, Neil and Saffy's continued presence ensures a sense of familiarity for listeners amidst the changes. Their expertise and rapport with the audience will undoubtedly contribute to the success of Pirate FM's new Hits format.

Meanwhile, Rewind Radio stands poised to fill the void as Cornwall's premier local commercial station, embracing its role as a cornerstone of community engagement and support.

This expansion reinforces Rewind Radio's dedication to Cornwall, providing a platform for local voices, business and communities to be heard and celebrated.

Richard Woods, Managing Director of Rewind Radio commented

“In 1992 Pirate FM pioneered commercial radio in Cornwall and without those we would not be here today. I was given my first experience in radio thanks to Pirate FM, and today I now have Rewind Radio. Today some old friends will be losing jobs.

There are some passionate and talented team members now wondering what will happen next. In Cornwall any business making redundancies is not good for the local economy. Rewind Radio will always be committed to supporting the Cornish Community and local businesses.”
