Redruth Post Office is to close at the end of July

It's been confirmed that Redruth Post Office will close on the 26th of July, as the search begins for a new post master.

A statement on the Post Office website says: "We are writing to inform you that, regrettably, following the resignation of the postmaster the above branch (Redruth) will be closing temporarily on Wednesday 26 July 2023 at 17:30.

"The provision of a Post Office service to our customers in the local community is important to us, and we will continue to work hard to restore services in the area as soon as possible.

"We would welcome any applications from potential retail partners interested in running a branch locally on our behalf."

The link to the advert for the franchise says that they are looking for someone with 'superb customer service' to come forward.

The notice continues: "We apologise for the inconvenience the temporarily closure may cause", but it gives no date of when the Post Office will reopen. 

One social media user has commented: "Another nail in the coffin for Redruth it is such a shame as it was once one of the richest towns now possibly the poorest."
