Kitted Out For The New Season

St Ives Rugby Football Club is starting the new season in style, with kit kindly supported by a local business.

The Hakes 1st team played its first home match of the season against Penryn on Saturday (6th September), whilst the 2nd team’s league game at St Agnes is on the 13th September, with team shorts sponsored by Cornish Riviera Holidays.

Cornish Riviera Holidays have renewed their partnership with the Hakes for a third year, with both organisations proud to continue the collaboration.

Jimmy Stevens, Director of Rugby for St Ives RFC said:

“On behalf of us all at St Ives RFC, we would like to say a huge thank you to Cornish Riviera Holidays for continuing their support of our club for a third year. We are proud to carry the business’s logo on our 1st and 2nd team shorts, and looking forward to another season of welcoming Directors Andy and Matt and their guests to our grounds.”

Andy Dale, Co-Director of Cornish Riviera Holidays said:

“We are delighted to continue our support of St Ives RFC. We have enjoyed being part of the team since 2023 and the warm welcome we have received. The Hakes are going from strength to strength and we’re looking forward to attending matches this season and bringing guests to cheer on the team”.

Matt Nellyer Co-Director of Cornish Riviera Holidays added:

“It’s an exciting time at St Ives RFC and we’re pleased to be part of this. With a long and proud history of rugby at Alexandra Road, the planned developments at the grounds now underway will ensure that the players and supporters have the best possible facilities. By sponsoring the team kit, Cornish Riviera Holidays is pleased to be able to support the club at this important time.”

St Ives RFC’s 1st and 2nd team “Hakes” and “Gurnards” have achieved consistent numbers of adult men training and playing, with both teams being competitive in their respective leagues and reaching the semi final of a national cup.

Whilst the very successful youth section celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, growing in membership to unprecedented levels.

The club continues to grow women’s and girls’ rugby, with an outreach programme to promote rugby for all in local schools.

With over 150 years of rugby history, the club plays an important role in St Ives’ community, developing players to reach their potential, with youth coming up through the ranks, families enjoying the social connections and the clubhouse hosting many celebrations.

With developments now underway to modernise facilities - including a new clubhouse and changing rooms, plus a change of site for the second pitch - to support players and provide improved facilities for all, visitors are increasing, along with business sponsors.

Developments have also enabled practical advantages, such as a huge number of parking spaces, resulting in significant footfall to grounds, putting the club firmly on the map for locals and visitors alike, with the club in turn able to provide a range of sponsorship packages for businesses with excellent marketing returns.
