Shadow Lounge: The Re-Awakening

Step inside St Petroc’s Church for an immersive promenade experience of Bodmin-born myths, spoken word, live shadows and stories cast in moving light. Wearing wireless headsets, audiences will move through the church in timed groups, drawn deeper into a world of suspended paper-cut artwork, atmospheric soundscapes, shifting shadows and a multisensory experience.

This is not storytelling held at arm’s length. It is a world to step inside, coconut and lavender linger in the air, shadows gather and St Petroc’s slowly becomes beautifully otherworldly.

After the first Shadow Lounge, one audience member said: “It sent me to another world.”

This October, that world opens again!

Created by Rob Mennear / GRIT Productions, in collaboration with Matthew Thomason composer, Robbie Gillet spoken word artist, Jess Marlton fine paper-cutting artist, Arlo Anwin animator, Christian Balistrari projection mapper, Meier Williams artist, Paul Joines technician, and live performers Olivia Walton and Hannah Jacobb.

A multi sensory journey rooted in community, place and imagination, Shadow Lounge The Re-Awakening offers a powerful new way to experience storytelling in Cornwall’s beating heart.

The experience lasts 40 minutes and there are 4 slots you can book (5pm, 6:15pm, 7:73pm, 8:30pm) on each date (30th and 31st October).

Church is fully accessible.
