Active Plus has been ranked as the No.1 place to work in Cornwall by Best Companies Group and has been honoured accordingly in the May issue of Business Cornwall, released in the first week of May 2025.
Active Plus is a Community Interest Company that uses the skills, experience and expertise of injured and retired military veterans to deliver unique programmes that build confidence, improve motivation, generate a sense of belonging and self-worth; helping people to unlock and fulfil their potential. These programmes support veterans, inspire businesses, and connect communities, offering appropriate assistance tailored to individual needs.
The awards programme began in 2023 and is promoted by Business Cornwall in partnership with Best Companies Group. This regional survey and awards programme was designed to identify, recognize, and honour the best places of employment in the county of Cornwall.
To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfil the following eligibility requirements:
· Be a publicly or privately held business
· Have a facility in Cornwall, UK
· Have a minimum of 15 employees working in Cornwall, UK
· Must be in business a minimum of one year
Companies from across the county entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Cornwall. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process and analysed the data and used their expertise to determine the final ranking.
