St Petrocs’ Project Pickle was celebrated in style last week, at an inspiring Business Networking and Launch Party at Rick Stein Restaurant Fistral, where Nicola Langridge, one of the Directors at Cornwall’s Rewind Radio, joined entrepreneurs, community leaders, and creatives from across the county to mark the launch of this innovative and heartwarming initiative.
Project Pickle is a pioneering fundraising effort by St Petrocs, in partnership with Rick Stein Restaurants and Beach Guardian, aimed at supporting people experiencing homelessness in Cornwall. The project involves creating a bespoke pickle chutney made from specifically grown cauliflowers, lovingly crafted and jarred to raise vital funds for St Petrocs’ services. These include providing accommodation, outreach, and specialist support for individuals in crisis.
The launch party was not only a celebration of the project’s success so far, but also a hands-on opportunity for the business community to get involved. Attendees from businesses all over Cornwall volunteered their time to help label hundreds of jars of the signature chutney, bringing an extra sense of unity and purpose to the event. Each label placed on a jar symbolised a collective commitment to ending homelessness in the region.
“We were delighted to support and attend the Pickle Party,” said Nicola Langridge, “It was fantastic to see so many Cornish businesses coming together for such a meaningful cause. From a local radio perspective, we believe it’s our responsibility to amplify community-driven initiatives like this. Cornwall's Rewind Radio is proud to shine a light on the work St Petrocs is doing and help share their message with our listeners across the county.”
Also in attendance was Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho KCVO OBE, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, who lent his support to the project and its official launch. His presence highlighted the significance of the initiative and the collective effort across Cornwall to address homelessness through creative, community-led solutions like Project Pickle.
The event also featured speeches, networking opportunities, and a showcase of how partnerships between local enterprises and charities can bring lasting impact. Project Pickle jars will be sold with all proceeds directly supporting St Petrocs' mission to provide a safe place to live for everyone in Cornwall.
