Helston’s South Kerrier Alliance has thanked its volunteers after being nominated for a King’s Award for Voluntary Service - the highest honour a UK volunteer group can receive, often described as an MBE for volunteering.
Representatives from the charity, including its chair, director, finance manager and creative producer, recently attended a ceremony at County Hall to mark the nomination.
A spokesperson for SKA said: “A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who support everything we do at Coronation Park, the Old Cattle Market and The Basement. We are endlessly grateful.”

South Kerrier Alliance CIC is a social enterprise formed by volunteers to address the needs and aspirations of people in South Kerrier, Helston and the surrounding parishes. Its long‑term plan focuses on the environmental, economic and community challenges facing the area.
The plan was developed by local residents and community groups through workshops, meetings and events, shaped by the aspirations and concerns of the people who live there.
