He was a Masterchef:The Professionals finalist and now Charlie Walters is offering an exclusive 6-course dinner at his new restaurant Narla as the grand finale of this year’s du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival on Saturday 9 May.
Twenty guests are being invited to taste a bespoke menu that includes a special Manderley cocktail inspired by Daphne du Maurier’s famous novel ‘Rebecca’. Historian Dr Patrick Newberry will also be joining the intimate gathering to talk about the celebrated author’s life and books.
Formerly head chef at the Sardine Factory in Looe, twenty-five-year-old Charlie Walters opened Nala early last year and has already earned 2025 Michelin recognition.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy amazing food, whilst learning more about Daphne du Maurier and her incredible body of work,” said Brenda Daly, Festival Director.
“Charlie is widely recognised as a culinary genius, with Narla getting Michelin attention and being named as one of Opentable’s Top 100 Restaurants within twelve months of opening.
“Dr Patrick Newberry enjoyed a stellar career in the financial services and, as a serving Historic England Commissioner, has a special interest in heritage. Fowey and the surrounding area were key to Daphne du Maurier’s development as a writer and Patrick will be leading a fascinating exploration of that symbiotic relationship over fabulous food and drink.
“Numbers are strictly limited for this once-in-a-lifetime occasion, so book now to avoid disappointment.”
The event takes place from 7.30-10pm on Saturday 9 May. Tickets cost £150 per person, and each sale includes a donation to The Du Maurier Fowey Festival Society. To book or for further information, email info@narlarestaurant.co.uk
