A NEW audiology service for people who can’t leave their homes unaccompanied has launched in Cornwall.
The Specsavers Home Visits team is now offering a range of hearing services for those in the county who cannot get to a store on their own due to a physical or mental illness, or disability.
Lianne Hooper, Customer Service Lead, said: ‘This is the first service of its kind that we’ve provided in Cornwall.
‘We believe it’s an essential service because we know there are a lot of people across the county who can no longer get to high street stores due to health or mobility.
‘Our dedicated team of audiologists can visit people’s home to carry out thorough, professional hearing checks using the latest computerised equipment.’
The audiology home-visit service runs alongside the recently opened home-visiting eyecare service, which can provide eye tests and new glasses prescriptions. Both services are available from Monday to Friday.
Lianne added: ‘Everyone’s hearing changes over time – it’s perfectly normal – so we know just how important it is to provide ear-health services.
‘If anyone thinks they may need a bit of help to recover the sounds that they’ve been missing, it all starts with a hearing check. If someone needs a hearing aid, the audiologist can fit them and adjust them in lots of different ways.
‘Everyone’s hearing is different and it’s important to tailor hearing aids so that they meet the person’s needs perfectly. We also provide an aftercare package to make sure people are fully supported afterwards.’
