Paws on the beach is back – raising funds for RSPCA Cornwall and packed with feel-good activities to get tails wagging. Dogs are welcome on the beach at Watergate Bay all year round – and on Saturday 11 April, from 11am to 3pm, they’re getting their own unique day out. Free to attend and a must for any dog owner, it’s an event not to be missed.
Supported by RSPCA Cornwall Branch and Watergate Bay Hotel, the event will be packed with canine-friendly activities. Expect a dog show with dog-friendly prizes and rosettes for all 1st place winners, ‘have-a-go’ agility sessions, behaviour and training advice, and guidance from a clinical canine massage therapist.
If that’s not enough to keep the younger members of the family happy, there’ll also be children’s agility, creative arts and crafts, face painting, and classic raffle and tombola stalls, with all donations going to RSPCA Cornwall, a self-funded rehabilitation and rehoming centre in St Columb.
Food and drink will be available on the beach, and The Beach Hut will be open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner – welcoming dogs and their humans for good food, drinks, cocktails and plenty of water bowls.
Poppy Pudner, RSPCA Cornwall’s Events and Activities Lead, says: “We’re absolutely delighted to be collaborating with Watergate Bay Hotel again this year and bringing Paws on the Beach back to Watergate Bay for the third-year running. Our partnership with the team there has created a truly special event for dog lovers and families alike. The past two years have been a huge success, with hundreds of happy faces and plenty of wagging tails, so we’re excited to welcome everyone back in 2026 – a particularly special year as we celebrate 30 years of caring for animals at our centre in St Columb. Visitors can look forward to some favourite activities returning alongside a few new surprises, making it a fantastic day out for the whole family while supporting rescue animals here in Cornwall.”
