Just do it! That’s the message from one Skills Bootcamp graduate to others looking to increase their potential in the workforce.
For individuals looking to develop their skills, Skills Bootcamps offer a valuable opportunity to improve their range of talents.
For employers, looking to fill skills gaps, support staff development, or bring new talent into your organisation, Skills Bootcamps provide a practical solution which has proved hugely beneficial for those who have already undertaken them.
One user, Arianna Caddy, who took part in the Clinical Pathways in Health and Care Skills Bootcamp, said: “The course has inspired me to one day complete my adult nursing degree. It has given me a new perspective on my career and the opportunities available within healthcare.
“The best thing about the course is the friendly people and helpful lecturers. They created an atmosphere where I felt comfortable asking questions and seeking help whenever needed.
“Just do it! You are well supported throughout. The course provides the perfect blend of practical and theoretical learning, and you will come away with skills and knowledge that will serve you in any healthcare setting.”
Lasting up to 16 weeks, Skills Bootcamps are available across a range of key industries, including construction, digital, green industries, health, hospitality and professional services.
The programme is free for individuals looking to change career, for the self-employed who are looking to develop skills to transform and grow their business, and to enable those currently not working to gain skills which will help them enter the workplace.
Cllr Tim Dwelly, portfolio holder for Economic Regeneration and Investment, said: “We are delighted to receive £3.7m funding directly from Department for Education (DfE) for commissioning Skills Bootcamps, to support our residents in gaining new skills they need to find and thrive at work.
“This is a great opportunity, alongside our devolved Adult Skills Fund budget from national government, to shape skills and training in a way that works for us, for our local people and for local businesses.
“There are recruitment difficulties and skills gaps in some of our key sectors, and the availability of these courses gives us the opportunity to ensure people are given the opportunity to develop industry skills that meet current recruitment needs, now and in the future, which is vital in ensuring that we have a strong, thriving economy in years to come.”
