South West Water is celebrating World Refill Day, the global campaign encouraging everyone to reduce plastic pollution, by encouraging people to refill their reusable bottles with tap water.
To support this, the company is providing free water refill stations at key festivals and events across Devon and Cornwall this summer, helping thousands of people stay hydrated sustainably.
This year, the company has already provided water at a number of key events including Devon County Show, The Great West Run and The Royal Cornwall Show and is continuing its efforts at upcoming gatherings including:
- Armed Forces Day – June 28 at Plymouth Hoe
- Golowan Festival – June 20 – 29 in Penzance, Cornwall
- Devon Heli Hike – July 5 at Jennycliff, Staddon Lane, Plymouth
- The Mid Devon Show – July 26 at Knightshayes, Chettiscombe, Tiverton
World Refill Day, held annually on 16 June, serves as a powerful reminder that refilling a reusable water bottle instead of buying single-use plastic bottles can help prevent tonnes of plastic waste from ending up in landfill or polluting the region’s rivers, beaches and countryside.
Alongside its refill initiatives, South West Water continues to support customers to adopt simple habits at home and outdoors that help reduce water use.
From fixing leaky taps and toilets to reusing leftover water in gardens, small everyday changes can significantly reduce demand on water supplies, especially during the warmer months.

Daniella Twelvetree, Head of Customer Communications and Engagement at South West Water, said: “World Refill Day is a great reminder of how easy it can be to make more sustainable choices. By providing free refill stations at some of the South West’s most loved events, we’re helping people cut down on plastic waste while highlighting just how valuable our tap water really is.
“Every refill is a step towards protecting the environment and making a positive difference to both our planet and our future supplies.”
