The team have made it to Monopoli

A team from Cornwall’s Rewind Radio have successfully completed their epic “Monopoli or Bust” challenge, driving an incredible 2,055 miles from Cornwall all the way to Monopoli in southern Italy – all in aid of Huntington’s Disease charity HD Livin’.

The team, made up of Richard Woods (Managing Director of Rewind Radio), Shaun (Operations Director), along with friends Roy and Billsy, set off on Saturday 27th September. Their route took them across France, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and San Marino before reaching their final destination of Monopoli in the Puglia region.

The challenge has already captured huge support. Their original fundraising target of £3,000 was reached before departure, so the team raised the bar to £5,000. They are now at 87% of their goal, with donations still coming in.

Adding to the fun, the group took on extra challenges along the way, including a special Monopoli Bingo board – and they are confident they’ve completed every square.

Speaking at the finish line in Monopoli, Richard Woods said:

“This has been an unbelievable opportunity to take my co-director, who was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease last year, on a holiday of a lifetime while raising money and awareness for such a vital charity. Thank you to everyone who has supported and sponsored us so far.”

The adventure isn’t over yet. The team now face the long return journey of 1,900 miles back to Cornwall, bringing their total mileage to almost 4,000 miles. They aim to arrive home just in time to celebrate the 4th birthday of Cornwall’s Rewind Radio on 7th October.

Supporters can still follow their journey and donate via the Rewind Radio website: www.rewindradio.co.uk and through the station’s social media channels.
