Truro Classic Car Show to take place across the city centre next month

Truro BID will be bringing the Truro Classic Car Show back for its third year on Sunday 6th July.

The Classic Car Show offers car lovers a unique opportunity to see a wide variety of cherished classic and vintage cars from the 1920s to the 2020s, in a prime city centre location.

The annual event is continuing to grow, and more vehicles will be showcased across the city on Lemon Quay, Lemon Street and Boscawen Street, plus new for this year motorcycles on Pydar Street. The much-loved vehicles on display will include classic brands including Morris, Jaguar, Mercedes, Triumph, Porsche, MG, Ford, and many others. As well as experiencing the city brimming with cherished cars, visitors will be able to browse automobilia and autojumbles stalls and enjoy live music.

There will also be a small selection of new cars on display at the event, from local dealers including from Vospers, Hawkins Motor Group, Parklands Toyota and P Perryman & Sons Commercial Vehicles.

Sam Lovegrove, a well-known figure in the world of automotive bargain hunting and from the shows Find It, Fix It, Drive It and Shed and Buried will be attending the Truro Classic Car Show. Recognised for his loving ability to bring rare machines back from the dead and uncover their history, Sam will be bringing along a classic car for the day and meeting both visitors and exhibitors at the event.

To help visitors get to the Truro Classic Car Show easily, the Truro Park and Ride will be operating a special Sunday shuttle bus service from the Tregurra site to the city centre. The service will run from Tregurra (TR1 1RH) every 15 minutes between 9.30am and 11.45am and from 1.45pm until 4.30pm, and every 20 minutes between 12.05pm and 1.25pm to coincide with the event which takes place from 10.30am until 3.30pm.

The journey will take approximately six minutes and will drop off passengers at Quay Street. Buses back to Tregurra Park and Ride will leave Quay Street every 15 to 20 minutes throughout the day with the last service departing at 4.40pm.

Day tickets for the Truro Park and Ride can be purchased via the First Bus App or from the driver on the day. Multi-day tickets and PLUSBUS tickets are also valid on the day. Please note that the Park and Ride at Langarth will not be open on this date.

The Truro Classic Car Show is being brought to the city by Truro BID, sponsored by Coodes Solicitors and Macmillan Cancer Support will be fundraising on the day.

Alun Jones, Truro BID Manager said “We’re looking forward to hosting the third Truro Classic Car Show and transforming the city with a static display of much-loved classic and vintage vehicles. We’re pleased to be continuing to increase the size of the event with more activity throughout the city centre and delighted that the Park and Ride have agreed to operate a shuttle service from Tregurra. It will be a great opportunity for car enthusiasts, and the event will also help increase footfall into the city and benefit many of our resident businesses.”

Coodes Solicitors Chair, Elise Alma, said: “This promises to be a great day out for classic car enthusiasts from across Cornwall and Coodes is delighted to be sponsoring this event once again. It will also be raising money for a very important cause, and we hope it attracts a lot of people to the city centre.”

Sam Lovegrove said: “I’m delighted to be invited to the show and, as well as showcasing one of my classic cars, I’m looking forward to browsing around and seeing what restorations may have taken place. I fully appreciate the love and care it takes to keep classic and vintage motorcycles and motorcars going. It is wonderful that this growing event highlights both the automotive community and raises the profile of engineering.”

Leanne Thomas, Relationship Fundraising Manager- South West from Macmillan Cancer Support added: “The Turo Classic Car Show is a wonderful event that brings the community together whilst supporting the vital work of Macmillan Cancer Support, helping us ensure no one has to face cancer alone, wherever or whoever they are. We are proud and excited to be involved for a third year.”

Taking place from 10.30am until 3.30pm on Sunday 6th July, the Truro Classic Car Show is free to attend and to exhibit vehicles. However, those who wish to exhibit their classic car or vintage vehicle are invited to make a voluntary donation at the event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on the day.
