YMCA Cornwall is inviting the community to a special Open Day on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, to raise funds for its ambitious new housing initiative, Your Help, Their Future – a campaign to build four new homes for young people aged 16–24 at risk of homelessness in Cornwall.
The event will feature a BBQ, live music from a male voice choir, a variety of stalls and activities, and guided tours of the site. There will be homemade cream teas, baked and served by the young residents, who are fundraising to support YMCA Cornwall’s work. The event offers an opportunity to see how community support is helping to transform young lives across Cornwall.
The campaign received a major boost with a £70,000 donation from The Duke of Cornwall’s Charitable Foundation, and has received generous contributions from local community groups. The charity still needs to raise £250,000 to complete the build, and provide secure housing for four more people currently on their waiting list.
Pat Woodfield, CEO of YMCA Cornwall said: “Our Open Day is a chance for people to have fun and help us raise funds for the campaign. We’re inviting everyone to see the site, meet the team, and show the community what we do, and how we help.”
In addition to financial donations, YMCA Cornwall is calling for local businesses to donate raffle and auction prizes. Along with volunteers, tradespeople, and businesses to contribute labour, building supplies, and materials for the build.
