Cornwall’s Rewind Radio Christmas Toy Appeal Delivers Nearly 4,000 Toys to Children Across the Duchy

Cornwall’s Rewind Radio is celebrating the incredible success of its 2025 Christmas Toy Appeal, kindly sponsored by Hawkins Motor Group, after an overwhelming response from the Cornish community saw a total of 3,942 toys donated.

Launched in October, the appeal invited listeners and local businesses to come together to support children facing poverty or disadvantage this festive season. In total, 50 donation boxes were placed in supportive local businesses across the Duchy, stretching from Plymouth to Penzance, making it easy for people to get involved and give generously.

Thanks to the kindness of people across Cornwall, thousands of toys have already been distributed to Children’s Hospice South West, Penhaligon’s Friends, and the Children’s Ward at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, helping to bring joy and smiles to children and families during what can be a challenging time of year.

Richard Woods, Managing Director of Cornwall’s Rewind Radio, said:

“The response to this year’s Christmas Toy Appeal has been nothing short of incredible. The generosity shown by our listeners, local businesses and communities across Cornwall has truly blown us away. To collect nearly 4,000 toys is an amazing achievement and will make a real difference to thousands of children this Christmas. We are determined to ensure that every remaining toy finds a loving home and brings a smile to a child’s face.”

Due to the unprecedented level of generosity, Cornwall's Rewind Radio has now reached the maximum number of toys that its three appointed charities are able to accept. However, thousands of toys still remain, and the station is keen to ensure that every gift reaches a child who needs it this Christmas.

Cornwall's Rewind Radio is now inviting applications from additional organisations and individuals who support children aged 0–18 years facing financial difficulties, challenges or disadvantage.

To qualify, applicants must be one of the following:

  • A registered charity supporting children aged 0–18

  • A school or pre-school supporting children aged 0–18

  • A care worker supporting children aged 0–18

All applicants will be required to provide proof of organisational details and a copy of identification upon collection. Once requests are verified, Cornwall's Rewind Radio will contact successful applicants to arrange a collection time.

To be considered for a donation, please visit rewindradio.co.uk/toyappeal and complete the application form.

Cornwall's Rewind Radio would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported the Christmas Toy Appeal, including listeners, businesses, volunteers, and sponsors. The response has been truly overwhelming, and the station along with the charities are immensely grateful for the generosity shown across Cornwall.
