A main road in Cornwall is partially blocked in both directions after a vehicle struck a railway bridge near Hayle Station.
The collision left Penpol Terrace partially blocked, with slow‑moving traffic reported on the B3301 near The Towans, according to traffic monitoring service Inrix.
Great Western Railway (GWR) has confirmed that all lines have now reopened following the incident, though disruption was expected until midday while engineers checked the bridge and cleared debris.
A spokesperson said: “Following a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between St Erth and Hayle, all lines have now reopened. Train services running through these stations are returning to normal. Disruption is expected until 12pm.”

GWR said it was working with Network Rail to restore its normal timetable as quickly as possible.
Travel options for passengers
Passengers whose journeys were affected were offered several options:
-
Travel on other services: If a train was cancelled, customers could use either of the two services before or after their original train at no extra cost.
-
Replacement transport: No buses or taxis were requested at the time, but GWR said it would continue to monitor the situation.
-
Postpone travel: Customers were advised to consider delaying their journey until services fully returned to normal.
-
Alternative operators: Travellers were encouraged to check whether other rail companies or local public transport could assist.
GWR reminded passengers that live updates are available through the National Rail journey planner, station departure boards and staff at stations.
