Tech Training Programme Returns to Empower Women and Underrepresented Genders in Cornwall

TECwomen CIC, in partnership with Truro and Penwith College, is proud to announce that applications are now open for the next intake of digitalUPLIFT, a free 8 week digital skills programme designed specifically for women and underrepresented genders in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

As Cornwall’s tech sector continues to grow at pace, digitalUPLIFT is helping to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in this exciting and evolving industry. The programme provides accessible, jargon-free training that builds confidence, digital literacy, and career clarity, whether participants are exploring the tech sector for the first time, returning to work, or seeking to enhance their career resilience.

Delivered in a hybrid format, digitalUPLIFT combines flexible, self-paced online content with three in-person workshops hosted at accessible venues across the region. The course is fully funded and free for eligible local residents, and support is available for those who need help accessing equipment, internet or travel.

Participants will explore a wide range of topics including digital career pathways, artificial intelligence, coding, business analysis, project delivery, and personal branding. The programme also includes interactive confidence-building sessions, one-to-one mentoring tailored to individual goals, and practical guidance on interview preparation and goal-setting.

But digitalUPLIFT is more than just a course. It’s a community. Participants will benefit from a supportive cohort model that encourages peer learning, as well as networking opportunities with local employers and successful women working in Cornwall’s tech industry. Graduates of the programme gain access to the wider TECwomen alumni 1 network and role model group, helping them stay connected long after the course ends.

Following an overwhelming response to its first cohort in 2023, where applications more than doubled the available spaces in just one week, the team behind digitalUPLIFT is excited to expand the programme to welcome new learners this autumn. “We’re excited to launch a new round of digitalUPLIFT this autumn, with refreshed content aligned to industry needs. This programme continues to open doors into tech by building confidence, skills, and community for women and underrepresented genders in Cornwall.” Ellie Smith, Programme Delivery Manager.
