Cornwall’s Rewind Radio is celebrating the huge success of its first-ever Cornwall’s Heroes Awards, following an emotional, uplifting, and unforgettable awards night on Friday.

The awards recognised listeners and organisations across Cornwall who go the extra mile every single day.

The event, held at the stunning Tregenna Castle, was a full house as listeners, community groups, family members, nominees, winners, and sponsors all came together. The evening was filled with laughter, tears and standing ovations as Cornwall’s unsung heroes were honoured from community champions and carers to those receiving lifetime achievement awards.

Across the night, moving stories were shared: of people caring selflessly for parents, leading in business for the good of others, and inspiring entire communities through tireless fundraising even while facing terminal illness.

One of the most powerful moments of the night came with the presentation of the overall “Winner of Winners” award, collected by Sam and Emma, the children of the late Mark Norton. The room rose to its feet in tribute as Cornwall’s Rewind Radio Managing Director, Richard Woods, spoke from the heart about Mark, a much-loved man who inspired so many before losing his fight with Motor Neurone Disease less than a year ago.

The awards evening was made possible thanks to the generous support of table sponsors and the headline sponsorship from Andrew Davenport of Focus Technology (Europe), based in Redruth.

Managing Director Richard Woods said:

“From the start until the end the night, it really showcased the amazing people we have in Cornwall. The atmosphere was electric, and the emotions were high. From the amazing delivery of the night, led by our very own Jack Murley, through to the stories we heard and finishing up with music from Ryan from our Floorfillers show and the Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys completing the night, we couldn’t have asked for more. Extended thanks to Rhys the Night Church Pianist, for music throughout the meal. My thanks go to our main sponsor, all the table sponsors, Tregenna Hotel, Corker Media, Joanne Westlake Photography, Elephant Rock Entertainment and GK Electronics for creating, making, and capturing the event.”

Following the overwhelming response to the Cornwall’s Hero’s Awards, Cornwall’s Rewind Radio is delighted to confirm two major events for next year: the return of the Cornwall Hero's Awards and a new business awards for Cornwall.

Helen Snowden, Head of Events at Cornwall’s Rewind Radio, said:

“We are delighted to announce that, on the back of the success of this event, we will be launching our Cornwall’s Rewind Radio Business Awards on the 22nd of May 2026, and also the Cornwall’s Hero’s Awards on the 23rd of October 2026, to showcase not just our listeners but also our amazing businesses."
