Spooky Newquay Zombie Crawl a Frightful Success

Thousands descended on Newquay for Cornwall’s biggest free Halloween celebration.

Newquay was well and truly taken over by the undead today, as thousands of ghoulish revellers, frightening families, and visitors flocked to the town on Saturday 25th October for the annual Spooky Newquay Zombie Crawl, a frightfully fantastic highlight of the town’s week-long Spooky Newquay festival.

The much-loved event, made possible with support from Experience Newquay and organised by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID), proved to be the biggest and most gruesome yet. With eerie entertainment, wicked workshops and a spine-tingling performance by Titan the Robot, the town centre was alive all day long.

From 11am, families got into the Halloween spirit with a packed schedule of free activities, from frightful face painting and pumpkin carving to circus skills, spooky storytelling and wound-making workshops. Local venues including Ralph’s, Project 83, Concho Lounge, Choukette, Saltsheds, Saltd, and Newquay Library joined in the fun, transforming into creative hubs for the day.

Another highlight was the appearance of Titan the Robot, who wowed the crowds with his unique blend of music and comedy on the Killacourt, before handing over to a host of vibrant street performers including Bounce Dance Academy, 4 Motion, Cornwall Theatre School and Hotch Potch.

Then, at 3pm sharp, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived, the monstrous Zombie Crawl itself. Thousands of terrifyingly transformed participants shuffled, groaned, and danced their way from Station Parade through the streets of Newquay to Alma Place, creating a jaw-dropping spectacle that delighted onlookers and brought the whole town to life.

As the sun set, spooky after-parties and discos carried the celebrations into the night, while the eerie excitement continued throughout the week with the Spooky Halloween Trail, Spooky Trenance Trail, and a host of monster deals from local businesses.

The atmosphere was electric, the creativity on show was incredible, and it was fantastic to see so many families, residents and visitors getting involved. We estimate thousands attended, making it one of Newquay’s biggest and most successful community events to date.”

The Spooky Newquay Zombie Crawl was organised by Newquay BID with support from Experience Newquay on behalf of Cornwall Council’s Good Growth Fund. The festival forms part of a wider initiative funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, designed to strengthen Newquay’s year-round visitor economy, celebrate local culture, and support the town’s businesses.
